WHO AM I?

"Risk comes from not knowing what you are doing" --Warren Buffett

I speak multiple critical languages

I speak “our” industry language and can help you analyze Operations, from Labor to Management to Sales to Marketing and Branding, to coordinating all the above with available finances. I learned these skills during my six years as COO and CEO of our start up CEA company.

I speak “investor, bank and lender” language and successfully raised over 20MM on 12 different occasions for our pre-revenue startup project. I learned these skills during my several decades as a practicing attorney representing companies seeking funds, and based on several years of representing banks themselves, and learning their perspectives and interests.

I speak “attorney language” and can help you understand the many contracts and financial documents you are constantly bombarded with. I know where to find the landmines, what to avoid and what to ask for. I learned these skills from decades of work as an attorney and in working hand in hand with a great law firm in Kentucky for 6 years, representing my company.

WHY I AM DIFFERENT

I learned most of what I know about planning, building and operating a CEA project the hard way. My goal is to share that experience with you to help prepare you to succeed.

We are in a wonderful industry. What life choices could be better than to devote oneself to growing healthy food?  But, it is not enough to do just that – one must devise a realistic business model that will permit you to grow healthy food in a profitable manner over time.  And, since our CEA industry has such large initial capital costs, you must devise a model that will permit you to have long term success.

I will provide objective analysis without the “love that blinds” so many in the beginning (I know, I had that too).  Simply put, your business must be profitable long-term if it is to survive.

My newsletters will also take that approach. You won’t find any greenwashing from me – no articles about how great our industry is, without at least also presenting the real issues, risks and problems that our industry has.  That is my promise to everyone I will work with, and write for.

HOW I CAN HELP

My industry contacts and I see some growing problems for our CEA industry, despite the huge amounts of funding coming into the USA. There are serious disconnects of knowledge and information between growers, lenders, investors and market sellers, and this regularly leads to decisions which are self-defeating and/or self-destructive. Too much money is at stake. What I offer is help in navigating the hidden landmines, surprise barriers and dead ends you will encounter, and I can help you find the best path forward for your company.
